γ-Ray-Assisted Synthesis of a Pt-Sn Composite Loaded on Graphene-Graphitic Carbon Nitride Hybrid: A Cocktail Electrocatalyst for the Methanol Oxidation Reaction.

ACS Omega 2021 Jun 21;6(21):13579-13587. Epub 2021 May 21.

The composite of Pt with transition metals is viewed as the most promising anode material for direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) applications. Besides the decrease in the Pt loading, these multimetallic structures help in circumventing CO poisoning issues associated with a Pt catalyst. Herein, we prepared and loaded Pt-Sn bimetallic nanoparticles on an electron-rich and stable substrate consisting of graphitic nitride (GCN) and graphene oxide (GO)/reduced graphene oxide (r-GO) hybrid composites. Polystyrene as Graphene Film and 3D Graphene Sponge Precursor.

Nanomaterials (Basel) 2019 Jan 16;9(1). Epub 2019 Jan 16.

Instituto de Tecnología Química, Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas-Universitat Politécnica de Valencia, Av. De los Naranjos s/n, 46022 Valencia, Spain.

Polystyrene as a thin film on arbitrary substrates or pellets form defective graphene/graphitic films or powders that can be dispersed in water and organic solvents. The materials were characterized by visible absorption, Raman and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, electron and atomic force microscopy, and electrochemistry. Raman spectra of these materials showed the presence of the expected 2D, G, and D peaks at 2750, 1590, and 1350 cm, respectively. Read More

Growth of Hexagonal Columnar Nanograin Structured SiC Thin Films on Silicon Substrates with Graphene-Graphitic Carbon Nanoflakes Templates from Solid Carbon Sources.

Materials (Basel) 2013 Apr 16;6(4):1543-1553. Epub 2013 Apr 16.

Key Laboratory of Semiconductor Materials Science, Institute of Semiconductors, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing 100083, China.

We report a new method for growing hexagonal columnar nanograin structured silicon carbide (SiC) thin films on silicon substrates by using graphene-graphitic carbon nanoflakes (GGNs) templates from solid carbon sources. The growth was carried out in a conventional low pressure chemical vapor deposition system (LPCVD). The GGNs are small plates with lateral sizes of around 100 nm and overlap each other, and are made up of nanosized multilayer graphene and graphitic carbon matrix (GCM). Read More

Low-temperature growth and direct transfer of graphene-graphitic carbon films on flexible plastic substrates.

Nanotechnology 2012 Aug;23(34):344016

Department of Chemistry, College of Natural Sciences, Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea.

We demonstrate low-temperature growth and direct transfer of graphene-graphitic carbon films (G-GC) onto plastic substrates without the use of supporting materials. In this approach, G-GC films were synthesized on copper layers by using inductively coupled plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition, enabling the growth of few-layer graphene (G) on top of Cu and the additional growth of graphitic carbon (GC) films above the graphene layer at temperatures as low as 300 °C. The patterned G-GC films are not easily damaged or detached from the polymer substrates during the wet etching and transfer process because of the van der Waals forces and π-π interactions between the films and the substrates.
