Cognitive control training for urgency: A pilot randomized controlled trial in an acute clinical sample.

Behav Res Ther 2021 Sep 14;146:103968. Epub 2021 Sep 14.

McLean Hospital, 115 Mill Street, Belmont, MA, 02478, USA; Harvard Medical School, 25 Shattuck Street, Boston, MA, 02115, USA. Electronic address:

Urgency - rash action in the context of strong emotion - is a facet of impulsivity closely related to many psychological disorders. Deficits in working memory and response inhibition are potential mechanisms underlying urgency, and a previous study showed that cognitive training targeting these domains is efficacious in reducing urgency. However, the feasibility and efficacy of this intervention has not yet been tested in a clinical sample or naturalistic treatment setting. Read More

Int J Surg Case Rep 2021 Sep 15;87:106415. Epub 2021 Sep 15.

Department of Orthopaedics and Trauma, National Hospital of Sri Lanka, Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Introduction And Importance: The ideal treatment of proximal humerus fracture remains a controversial topic, especially in the case of complex multi-fragmentary fractures. Whether green technology innovation is conducive to haze emission reduction: empirical evidence from China.

Environ Sci Pollut Res Int 2021 Sep 24. Epub 2021 Sep 24.

Freeman School of Business, Tulane University, New Orleans, LA, USA.

With the acceleration of industrialization, haze pollution has become a severe environmental pollution problem, and green technology innovation is one feasible way to alleviate it. Based on the PM concentration data of 30 provinces in mainland China from 2011 to 2017, we use a spatial panel model to investigate the spatial characteristics of haze pollution and examine the impact of green technology innovation on it. Results show that haze pollution has spatial correlation and a time lag. Read More

Mutual inhibition effect of sulfur compounds in the hydrodesulfurization of thiophene, 2-ethylthiophene and benzothiophene ternary mixture.

Sci Rep 2021 Sep 24;11(1):19053. Epub 2021 Sep 24.

Petroleum-Gas University of Ploiești, Bucharest Blvd. 39, 100680, Ploiești, Romania.

The hydrodesulphurization of a model component and equimolar ternary mixture of thiophene, 2-ethylthiophene and benzothiophene over sulphided CoMo/γ-AlO and CoMo/γ-AlO-NbO catalysts were investigated in a fixed bed flow reactor. The catalysts were prepared by incipient wetness impregnation method and characterized by textural characteristics, total acidity and chemical species present on the catalysts surface. The characterization results showed that both CoMo/γ-AlO-NbO and sulphided CoMo/γ-AlO catalysts exhibit a mesoporous structure with cylindrical pores open at both ends, evidenced by the IV type adsorption-desorption isotherm with a H1 hysteresis loop and have an average pore diameter between 3 and 4 nm. Superconductivity assisted change of the perpendicular magnetic anisotropy in V/MgO/Fe junctions.

Sci Rep 2021 Sep 24;11(1):19041. Epub 2021 Sep 24.

Departamento Física de la Materia Condensada C-III, Instituto Nicolás Cabrera (INC) and Condensed Matter Physics Institute (IFIMAC), Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Madrid, 28049, Spain.

Controlling the perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) in thin films has received considerable attention in recent years due to its technological importance. PMA based devices usually involve heavy-metal (oxide)/ferromagnetic-metal bilayers, where, thanks to interfacial spin-orbit coupling (SOC), the in-plane (IP) stability of the magnetisation is broken. Here we show that in V/MgO/Fe(001) epitaxial junctions with competing in-plane and out-of-plane (OOP) magnetic anisotropies, the SOC mediated interaction between a ferromagnet (FM) and a superconductor (SC) enhances the effective PMA below the superconducting transition. Closed Isolated Zygomatic Arch Fracture Management Made Easy.

J Craniofac Surg 2021 Sep 24. Epub 2021 Sep 24.

Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery Department, Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt.

Background: Zygomatic arch fractures can occur either as isolated fractures or as a part of multiple facial fractures. There are several techniques available for reduction of zygomatic arch fractures, which include closed reduction and open reduction with fixation using metallic splints, closed reduction via Gillies or a gingivobuccal approach is preferred for minimal invasiveness, short operative time, and low complication rate. The aim of the present study is to present a simple, easy, and reliable method for closed reduction of isolated zygomatic arch fractures. Read More

Surgeon Volume and Established Hospital Perioperative Mortality Rate Together Predict Superior Outcomes After Open AAA Repair.

J Vasc Surg 2021 Sep 21. Epub 2021 Sep 21.

Division of Vascular Surgery, University of Rochester Medical Center, Rochester, New York. Electronic address:

Background: In 2018, the SVS published hospital volume guidelines for elective open abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) repair, recommending elective open surgical repair for AAA be performed at centers with an annual volume of at least 10 open aortic operations of any type and a documented perioperative mortality of 5% or less. Recent work suggests a yearly surgeon volume of ≥7 open aortic cases for improved outcomes. The objective of this study is to assess the importance of hospital volume and surgeon volume at these cut points in predicting 1-year mortality after OSR for AAA. Read More

Scapholunate and lunotriquetral interosseous ligament augmentation with internal bracing in perilunate dislocation: Case reports.

Medicine (Baltimore) 2021 Sep;100(38):e26827

Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Bucheon St. Mary's Hospital, College of Medicine, The Catholic University of Korea, Seoul, Republic of Korea.

Rationale: The goals of surgical treatment of the perilunate dislocation (PLD) are confirmation of reduction, ligament repair, and supplemental fixation of the bony architecture. Open reduction and direct repair of the torn ligament are recommended for acute PLD. However, repair of the scapholunate interosseous ligament (SLIL) and lunotriquetral interosseous ligament (LTIL) is often unreliable, and secure repair is challenging. Read More

A factorial experiment was conducted in an open-field place with mycorrhiza [non-inoculation, Funneliformis mosseae (FM), and Rhizoglomus intraradices (RI)], SA (250 μM and non-SA), and irrigation levels [100%, 70%, and 40% field capacity (FC)] as treatments. Severe drought increased VD, MC, superoxide dismutase (SOD), ascorbate peroxidase (APX), and peroxidase activities while decreased GI, DTI, and yield. Read More

Centre for Discovery Brain Sciences, Edinburgh Medical School, University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, UK EH8 9XD, UK.

Ciliary motility is powered by a suite of highly conserved axoneme-specific dynein motor complexes. In humans the impairment of these motors through mutation results in the disease, Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD). Studies in Drosophila have helped to validate several PCD genes whose products are required for cytoplasmic pre-assembly of axonemal dynein motors. Read More
