Anal Chim Acta 2021 Sep 5;1179:338603. Epub 2021 May 5.

Biosensor National Special Laboratory, Key Laboratory for Biomedical Engineering of Ministry of Education, Department of Biomedical Engineering, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, 310027, China. Electronic address:

Light-addressable potentiometric sensor (LAPS) has been widely used in biomedical applications since its advent. As a member of the potentiometric sensors, ion-sensitive LAPS (ISLAPS) can be obtained by modifying ion selective sensing membrane on the sensor surface. Compared with the conventional ion-selective electrodes (ISEs) with liquid contact, the all-solid-state ISEs have more advantages such as easy maintenance, more convenient for miniaturization and practical applications. Water purification from per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFASs), as a group of persistent and mobile fluoro-organic contaminants, is receiving increasing attention worldwide due to the ubiquitous presence of these highly toxic compounds. To reduce the risk of exposure of human life to PFASs and their dispersion in the environment, various techniques, primarily based on membrane technologies, have been rapidly developed. Here we critically review and analyze the current state-of-the-art of membrane-based techniques for PFASs removal, including direct membrane filtrations, adsorption-based membranes, and hybrid membrane processes. Room temperature spontaneous valley polarization in two-dimensional FeClBr monolayer.

Nanoscale 2021 Sep 17;13(35):14807-14813. Epub 2021 Sep 17.

Tianjin Key Laboratory of Low Dimensional Materials Physics and Preparation Technology, School of Science, Tianjin University, Tianjin 300354, China.

The valley degrees of freedom of Bloch electrons provide a proper platform to realize information storage and processing. Using first principles calculations, we propose that the FeClBr monolayer is a ferromagnetic semiconductor with spontaneous valley polarization owing to the combined effect of magnetic exchange interaction and spin-orbit coupling effect. The FeClBr monolayer shows perpendicular magnetic anisotropy, a high Curie temperature of 651 K and a large valley splitting of 188 meV, which are beneficial for the practical applications in valleytronics. Redox chemistry of discrete low-valent titanium complexes and low-valent titanium synthons.

Chem Commun (Camb) 2021 Sep 17. Epub 2021 Sep 17.

Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, University of Texas at El Paso, El Paso, TX 79968, USA.

Titanium is a versatile metal that has important applications in practical synthesis, though this is typically limited to stoichiometric reactions or Lewis acid catalysis. Recently, interest has grown in using titanium and other early-metals for redox catalysis; however, notable limitations exist due to the thermodynamic preference of these metals to adopt high oxidation states. Nonetheless, discrete low-valent titanium (LVT) complexes and their synthons (titanium complexes which chemically behave as LVT sources) are known. Read More

Dendritic CsSnI for Efficient and Flexible Near-Infrared Perovskite Light-Emitting Diodes.

Adv Mater 2021 Sep 16:e2104414. Epub 2021 Sep 16.

Xiamen Key Laboratory of Optoelectronic Materials and Advanced Manufacturing, Institute of Luminescent Materials and Information Displays, College of Materials Science and Engineering, Huaqiao University, Xiamen, 361021, China.

All-inorganic and lead-free CsSnI is emerging as one of the most promising candidates for near-infrared perovskite light-emitting diodes (NIR Pero-LEDs), which find practical applications including facial recognition, biomedical apparatus, night vision camera, and Light Fidelity. However, in the CsSnI -based Pero-LEDs, the holes injection is significantly higher than that of electrons, resulting in unbalanced charge injection, undesired exciton dissipation, and poor device performance. Herein, it is proposed to manage charge injection and recombination behavior by tuning the interface area of perovskite and charge-transporter. Read More

Among them, HT showed the best preservation effect on jujube fruits, which was more effective than others in inhibiting the increase of red index, decay incidence, and weight loss and delaying the decrease of firmness, soluble solids content (SSC), titratable acidity (TA), and ascorbic acid (AsA) content. Besides, it could delay the degradation rate of the cell wall to maintain the integrity of cell membrane, and keep the high activity of active oxygen scavenging enzymes. Read More
