Malignant epithelial ovarian tumors (MEOTs) are the most lethal gynecologic malignancies, accounting for 90% of ovarian cancer cases. By contrast, borderline epithelial ovarian tumors (BEOTs) have low malignant potential and are generally associated with a good prognosis.
