[Benefits of volumetric to facial rejuvenation. Part 2: Dermal fillers].
Ann Chir Plast Esthet 2017 Sep 11. Epub 2017 Sep 11.
Hôpital américain de Paris, 63, boulevard Victor-Hugo, 92200 Neuilly-sur-Seine, France; 90, boulevard Flandrin, 75116 Paris, France.
Injectable substances known as fillers are used to palliate age-related atrophy and ptosis, and for their so-called "pseudo-lifting" action. They do not replace face and neck lift, but allow it to be postponed or, when injected after surgical lifting, make the result durable. Hyaluronic acid has a predominant and unchallenged place among fillers, well ahead of poly-L-lactic acid or calcium hydroxyapatite. Read More

[Benefits of volumetric to facial rejuvenation. Part 1: Fat grafting].
Ann Chir Plast Esthet 2017 Sep 5. Epub 2017 Sep 5.
Hôpital américain de Paris, 63, boulevard Victor-Hugo, 92200 Neuilly-sur-Seine, France; 90, boulevard Flandrin, 75116 Paris, France.
For a number of years, a volumetric approach using autologous fat injection has been implemented to improve cosmetic outcome in face-lift procedures and to achieve lasting rejuvenation. Autologous fat as filling tissue has been used in plastic surgery since the late 19th century, but has only recently been associated to face lift procedures. The interest of the association lies on the one hand in the pathophysiology of facial aging, involving skin sag and loss of volume, and on the other hand in the tissue induction properties of grafted fat, "rejuvenating" the injected area. Augmented reality could help the identification of nerve structures in brachial plexus surgery. The goal of this study was to determine which law of mechanical behavior was more adapted by comparing the results of Hooke's isotropic linear elastic law to those of Ogden's isotropic hyperelastic law, applied to a biomechanical model of the brachial plexus. A model of finite elements was created using the ABAQUS(®) from a 3D model of the brachial plexus acquired by segmentation and meshing of MRI images at 0°, 45° and 135° of shoulder abduction of a healthy subject. Purpose: In recent years, the indications of latissimus dorsi myocutaneous flap decreased in favor of its version preserving muscle: the thoracodorsal artery perforator flap (TDAP). The intramuscular dissection reduce donor site morbidity but also allows an extension of the pedicle compared to conventional latissimus dorsi flap pedicle. The purpose of this study was to quantify objectively elongation of the pedicle when the perforator is dissected through the muscle. Read More

Medical photography is an important part of the medical file and is widely used in medical communication, especially in our discipline. His practice has to be the most standardized and reproducible as possible, which distinguishes it from artistic photography. Photography fix the light reflecting from a subject, so surgeon have to control of the light source in any environment. Read More

Breast-implant texturing associated with delamination of capsular layers: A histological analysis of the double capsule phenomenon.
Ann Chir Plast Esthet 2017 Jun 9;62(3):196-201. Epub 2017 Mar 9.

Background: Macro-texturing of breast implants was developed with the double goal of improving implant stabilization within the breast cavity and decreasing the rate of capsular contractures. However, recent evidence suggests that double capsular formation, a potentially worrisome phenomenon associated with late seromas and biofilms, occurs with preponderance in macro-textured implants. Our objective was to analyze histologically different regions of double capsules to determine if they are more prone to mechanical movements. Read More
