On the dimorphism and the pressure-temperature state diagram of racemic m-nisoldipine, a dihydropyridine calcium ion antagonist.
Ann Pharm Fr 2018 May 21. Epub 2018 May 21.
Laboratoire SMS, EA 3233, Normandie université, université de Rouen, 76821 Mont-Saint-Aignan, France; Faculté de pharmacie, université Paris-Descartes, USPC, 4, avenue de l'observatoire, 75006 Paris, France. Electronic address:
The pressure-temperature phase diagram of the dimorphism of racemic m-nisoldipine is constructed using temperatures and enthalpies of fusion of forms A and B. At ordinary pressure, the transition from form B to form A is found to occur around 192K, which indicates that these polymorphs are enantiotropically related and that form A is stable at room temperature. Nevertheless, the phase relationship turns to be monotropic when pressures become greater than about 100MPa, which indicates that form B becomes the sole stable phase. Read More

In this study, the effect of different formulation variables was studied, namely: type of PLGA (PLGA 502 and PLGA 503), type of drug (the lipophilic Prednisolone acetate, PA and the hydrophilic Propranolol Hydrochloride, PH) and drug loading (10 and 30% w/w). PLGA 503-based implants showed a lower water uptake, lower mass loss and erosion, slower drug release, and better mechanical properties and elasticity (P<0. Read More

Objectives: In a hospital environment, the quality control of the hospital preparations allows to release homogeneous batches in a secure way. These controls are totally integrated into the process of production and can also, in certain cases, be realized for high-alert magistral preparations. In community pharmacy, these controls were not required, but the Agence régionale de santé (ARS) recently incited compounding community pharmacies to realize this type of analyses. Read More

This work describes five simple and reliable spectrophotometric and chromatographic methods for analysis of hepatitis C antiviral binary mixture of ledipasvir (LPV) and sofosbuvir (SBV). Method I is based on the use of A and derivative spectrophotometry with the zero-crossing technique where LPV was determined using its A and D amplitudes at 324 and 338nm respectively, while SBV was determined by measuring the D amplitudes at 276nm. Method II involves the application of the ratio spectra derivative spectrophotometry. Read More

[Use of a Delphi survey to assess the hospital economic impact of innovative products: The example of idarucizumab a dabigatran-specific reversal agent].

Objectives: The economic impact of therapeutic innovations on the hospital patient management cannot be easily estimated. The objective of this study is to illustrate the use of a Delphi survey as a support tool to identify the changes following the use of idarucizumab in dabigatran-treated patients with uncontrolled/life-threatening bleeding or who required emergency surgery/urgent procedures.

Methods: The Delphi questionnaires have been administrated to 8 emergency physicians or anesthetists from 6 different hospital centers. Read More

[A comparative cost analysis of single-use versus reusable fiberoptic bronchoscopes: Is single-use fiberscope worth it?]
Ann Pharm Fr 2017 Nov 14;75(6):473-479. Epub 2017 Aug 14.

Objective: To present a minimization-cost analysis to compare reusable and single-use fiberscopes in a French health institution.

Materials And Methods: The amortization cost assessment has been achieved over a period of five years, and took into account the acquisition and maintenance costs, as well as the costs related to disinfection of reusable fiberscopes. The cost of single-use fiberscopes was calculated according to its acquisition and elimination costs. Read More

Extended stability of the rituximab biosimilar CT-P10 in its opened vials and after dilution and storage in polyolefin bags.
Ann Pharm Fr 2017 Nov 4;75(6):420-435. Epub 2017 Aug 4.
UPREC, service de pharmacie, groupe hospitalo-universitaire Henri-Mondor, 51, avenue du Maréchal-de-Lattre-de-Tassigny, 94010 Créteil, France.
The stability of the rituximab biosimilar CT-P10, in 50mL vials at a concentration of 10mg/mL, and after dilution to final concentrations of 1 and 4mg/mL and storage in polyolefin bags at 4°C and 25°C was studied by several orthogonal and complementary methods. No significant change (as defined by a magnitude greater than the inter-batch variability) was observed, for each of the parameters characterizing physical and chemical stability studied, for the two concentrations and temperatures tested, or for any of the three batches tested. This implies that cold-chain rupture and exposure to room temperature up to 15 days both for vials and diluted bags have no deleterious consequence on the quality of the product. Read More

Introduction: Methotrexate (MTX) is an antifolate drug, which is frequently used in the treatment of cancer. Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) could delay the elimination of plasma MTX in high-dose MTX therapy by inhibition of tubular secretion, which could lead to MTX toxicity. However, the evidence of the clinical relevance of this drug-drug interaction is inconsistent. Read More
