There are actually several big problems with early career researchers or even senior researchers to be involved with scientific research. Some issues like (a) Low potential grant funding. (b) Finding a fair and trustworthy CI as a leader to apply for getting grants and (c) Unfair allocation of a fund, could be some major problems.

The most striking issue is finding collaborators who can deliver both the great envisioned science as well as bear with the much required institutional agreements and regulatory paradigms that sometimes take quite a long time. While these requirements are critical in ensuring proper science conduct, they can negate on the speed of delivery of quality science. In Africa, collaborations especially with partners in the developed world is much sought to bring in some of the cutting edge technologies in laboratory science, while infusing the research with attributes or parameters obtained in natural tropical environment where majority of the problems like endemic and emerging global health issues occur.

To get grants from the unfair foundations is the biggest problem for me. Because it decides whether you and your lab can survive.

This makes me wonder who decides to be thought leaders. This happens on many levels with some things we can control, while others we cannot. I hope you find what you need to push your work forward.

To get the sufficient grants for performing the research is the main hurdle in the day to day work.
Articles are read by a wider audience only when the research is novel and intensive, which again requires enough grant and support from the authorities.
Finding collaborators is not a big problem since those involved in the research do assist, however, few may resist if an appropriate place is not given in the research protocol.
Everybody wishes to submit in the prestigious journals nevertheless, it requires again novel and intensive research.

One of the biggest problem with early career researchers for regular position. if researchers have permanent position in a institute or university, only those scientist can get funds to do research. Without regular position, we cant do good research.

Finding Grant for research capacity building is more difficult than finding Grant for applied research. As a young researcher, this is the biggest problem that I am facing. If lab is not well equipped, it is difficult to do good research. Unfair allocation of fund is also a great problem.

The biggest problem in our research is the fund availability. Also, our articles of life sciences were published in high quality journals and read by a lot of scientists, but the citation is low. It is hard to know the reason.

Getting articles with increased number of readers is an issue that always influences the mental set up of an author. Publication at the cost of a formidable amount as fees definitely acts as a deterant for author especially for those from the LIC group.
