Neonatal sepsis among neonates in the northwest part of Ethiopia

This study aimed to identify determinants of neonatal sepsis in the Northwest part of Ethiopia using unmatched case-control design among 246 neonates admitted in neonatal intensive care unit.Gestational age < 37 weeks, not crying immediately at birth, an receiving resuscitation at birth were found to be risk factors of sepsis.

Despite the implementation of different preventive interventions, the burden of neonatal sepsis is being reported in different areas of Ethiopia. Thus, identifying its determinants is found to be crucial for further interventions.
