A physicochemical model is developed for electrocatalytic reactions involving multiple electron transfer steps occurring in the electric double layer (EDL). The local reaction conditions are calculated using a mean-field EDL model, which is derived from a comprehensive grand potential that considers the steric effects, solvent polarization, and chemisorption-induced surface dipoles. Macroscopic mass transport in the so-called diffusion layer is controlled by the same set of controlling equations of the EDL model without imposing the electroneutrality assumption as usual. Coherent wake emission may be generated only by sufficiently high-contrast driving laser pulses. When the laser contrast is too low, the formed long-scale-length plasma cannot support its generation. In this Letter, we show how, by gently spoiling a pristine laser contrast in an engineered way, coherent wake emission becomes inhibited in the center of the irradiated substrate only, thus forming an annular-shaped source of coherent extreme ultraviolet (XUV) pulses. Altered esophageal ion transport mechanisms play a key role in inflammatory and cancerous diseases of the esophagus, but epithelial ion processes have been less studied in the esophagus because of the lack of a suitable experimental model. In this study, we generated 3D esophageal organoids (EOs) from two different mouse strains and characterized the ion transport processes of the EOs.
