Endoscopic assisted transaxillary augmentation mammaplasty.

Authors:
L C Ho

Br J Plast Surg 1993 Jun;46(4):332-6

Division of Plastic Surgery, Concord Hospital, Sydney, Australia.

The aesthetic approach for insertion of a breast implant is through an axillary incision. The scar is hidden in an inconspicuous and infrequently exposed site; it is also often scarcely visible when faded. The described technique is simple and requires an added stab incision. Direct visualisation of the pocket provides a degree of precision and control previously not attained. The size of the axillary incision is determined by the size of the folded inflatable prosthesis.

Ann Surg Oncol 2022 Aug 5. Epub 2022 Aug 5.

Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, The First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, Chongqing, China.

Background: Enucleation was commonly used in the surgery of the eye or prostate. The implication in the treatment of GGO is never reported.

Methods: In this multimedia article, we described a thoracoscopic enucleation of GGO between S7 and S8 in the right lower lobe. Read More

[Fluorescence-guided Lymph Vessel Sealing in Systematic Nodal Dissection: a New Surgical Technique to Prevent Lymphorrhea and Lymphocele.]

Zentralbl Chir 2022 Aug 3. Epub 2022 Aug 3.

Chirurgische Klinik, Universitätsmedizin Mannheim, Mannheim, Deutschland.

Introduction: The primary morbidities of inguinal and axillary systematic nodal dissection are lymphatic fistulas and seromas. Intraoperative fluorescence imaging-guided sealing of lymph vessels may prevent these postoperative complications.

Methods: Indocyanine dye was injected intracutaneously into the distal limb before the beginning of the lymphadenectomy. Read More

Hexagonal Skin Excision in Lipoabdominoplasty Aiming for a Smaller Scar and Efficient Waist.

Plast Reconstr Surg Glob Open 2022 Jun 21;10(6):e4319. Epub 2022 Jun 21.

Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt.

Standard abdominoplasty scars may extend beyond the boundaries of the abdomen. Contemporary styles of body exposure and bathing suits demand that those incisions be hidden inside the "bikini line." Although a smaller incision used for a mini abdominoplasty might be confined to the abdomen, larger incisions to remove massive amounts of fat and skin excess from the abdomen routinely require extensions toward the groin or iliac areas. Circ J 2022 Jul 27. Epub 2022 Jul 27.

Department of Cardiovascular Surgery, Chibanishi General Hospital.

Background: Minimally invasive sutureless aortic valve replacement with the Perceval bioprosthetic heart valve (MISUAVR) is commonly performed through a right anterior thoracotomy (AT). However, a lateral thoracotomy (LT) may be superior as it does not require rib and right internal thoracic artery (RITA) cutting. Methods and Results: In total, 38 MISUAVRs performed from May 2019 to approximately August 2021 were retrospectively reviewed; 21 through LT (Group L), and 17 through AT (Group A). Department of Radiation Oncology, Heinrich Heine University, 40225 Duesseldorf, Germany.

Due to its favorable dose distribution and targeting of the region at highest risk of recurrence due to direct visualization of tumor bed, intraoperative electron radiation therapy (IOERT) is used as part of a breast-conserving treatment approach. The aim of this study was to analyze tumor control and survival, as well as the toxicity profile, and cosmetic outcomes in patients irradiated with an IOERT boost for breast cancer. : 139 Patients treated at our institution between January 2010 and January 2015 with a single boost dose of 10 Gy to the tumor bed during breast-conserving surgery followed by whole-breast irradiation were retrospectively analyzed.
