About one in five twin pregnancies are monochorionic diamniotic. In these twins, transfusion imbalances may develop due to the invariably present vascular anastomoses. Excessive blood loss due to trauma or major surgical intervention can be life threatening which necessitates rapid hemorrhage management for prevention of such bleeding related sufferings. Broad interest in developing new hemostatic technologies have been paid for bleeding control but none of them found completely satisfactory especially in terms of rapid clotting, absorbability, porosity, cost effectiveness and safety. To address these issues, a combination of active and passive hemostatic materials from biological sources could be a wise choice. Read More

In this study, a modified coagulation sludge (MCS) from a real landfill leachate coagulation pretreatment was first prepared with polymerized ferric sulfate (PFS) as the activator for PMS to degrade bisphenol A (BPA). The results showed that 43.34% of BPA was adsorbed by MCS when [BPA] = 20 mg/L, [MCS] = 0. Read More

Introduction: Haemophilia patients with inhibitors often require a bypassing agent (BPA) for bleeding episode management. Eptacog beta (EB) is a new FDA-approved recombinant activated human factor VII BPA for the treatment and control of bleeding in haemophilia A or B patients with inhibitors (≥12 years of age). We describe here the EB safety profile from the three prospective Phase 3 clinical trials performed to date. Read More
