In the current severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic, testing for SARS-CoV-2-specific antibodies is paramount for monitoring immune responses in postauthorization vaccination and seroepidemiological studies. However, large-scale and iterative serological testing by venipuncture in older persons can be challenging. Capillary blood sampling using a finger prick and collection on protein saver cards, i. Cutaneous involvement of the scalp is a common manifestation of dermatomyositis (DM), occurring in up to 82% percent of adults with DM. Scalp DM predominantly affects women and is characterized by dermatitis, alopecia, pruritus, and/or burning. While cutaneous dermatomyositis negatively impacts quality-of-life, scalp symptoms in particular are often severe, debilitating, and recalcitrant to standard DM therapies. Read More

Background: Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS)/toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) is a life-threatening cutaneous adverse drug reaction (cADR). However, distinguishing SJS/TEN from non-severe cADRS is difficult, especially in the early stages of the disease. Objective: To overcome this limitation, we developed a computer-aided diagnosis system for the early diagnosis of SJS/TEN, powered by a deep convolutional neural network (DCNN). Purpose: Cutaneous reactions to BRAF inhibitors are common, but severe reactions resembling or consistent with drug-induced hypersensitivity syndrome (DIHS)/drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS) are relatively rare. Several reports suggest that cutaneous reactions including DRESS/DIHS to BRAF inhibitors are more frequent and severe in the setting of previous immune checkpoint inhibition (ICI).Methods: To characterize existing literature on these reports, we queried the PubMed/MEDLINE database for cases of DIHS/DRESS to BRAF inhibitors. Introduction: We aimed to describe the extrapulmonary manifestations of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection, including their frequency, onset with respect to respiratory symptoms, pathogenesis and association with disease severity. Methods: We searched the MEDLINE and Embase databases for SARS-CoV-2-related studies. Meta-analysis, observational studies, case series and case reports published in English or Chinese between 1 January and 1 May 2020 were included. Read More
