Context: Whether cancer risk in acromegaly is increased remains controversial. Also, the risk of benign tumors has been little studied. Objective: To investigate the incidence of benign and malignant tumors in acromegaly in a nationwide population-based study. Read More

Objectives: To examine the feasibility of performing ASL-MRI in paediatric patients with solid abdominal tumours. Methods: Multi-delay ASL data sets were acquired in ten paediatric patients diagnosed with either a neuroblastoma (n = 4) or nephroblastoma (n = 6) during a diagnostic MRI examination at a single visit (n = 4 at initial staging, n = 2 neuroblastoma and n = 2 nephroblastoma patients; n = 6 during follow-up, n = 2 neuroblastoma and n = 4 nephroblastoma patients). Visual evaluation and region-of-interest (ROI) analyses were performed on the processed perfusion-weighted images to assess ASL perfusion signal dynamics in the whole tumour, contralateral kidney, and tumour sub-regions with/without contrast enhancement. Mucinous tubular and spindle cell carcinoma (MTSCC) is a rare renal malignancy that usually follows an indolent course. The few existing reports of metastatic MTSCC show poor response to systemic therapy. Here we describe the unusual case of a 39-yr-old male with MTSCC presenting as a large renal mass with bulky retroperitoneal lymphadenopathy managed with complete resection of disease. Read More

Background: Definite noninvasive characterisation of renal tumours positive on Tc-sestamibi single photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography (SPECT/CT) examination including renal oncocytomas (ROs), hybrid oncocytic chromophobe tumours (HOCTs), and chromophobe renal cell carcinoma (chRCC) is currently not feasible. Objective: To investigate whether combined Tc-sestamibi SPECT/CT and in situ metabolomic profiling can accurately characterise renal tumours exhibiting Tc-sestamibi uptake.Design Setting And Participants: A tissue microarray analysis of 33 tumour samples from 28 patients was used to investigate whether their in situ metabolomic status correlates with their features on Tc-sestamibi SPECT/CT examination.
