[Patients treated with palbociclib and endocrine therapy for metastatic breast cancer: Can we predict the occurrence of severe early hematological toxicity?]

Authors:
Léa Vazquez Antoine Arnaud Julien Grenier Philippe Debourdeau

Bull Cancer 2021 Apr 2. Epub 2021 Apr 2.

Sainte-Catherine Institute, 250, chemin des baigne-pieds, 84000 Avignon, France.

Introduction: The addition of palbociclib to endocrine therapy has been shown to improve progression free survival in hormone receptor positive metastatic breast cancer patients. This cyclin CDK4/6 inhibitor could expose patients to a grade 3-4 hematological toxicity, leading to treatment discontinuation or treatment interruption that is potentially associated with a lack of efficiency. The aim of this study was to identify predictive factors of severe early hematotoxicity (ESHT). Read More

Studying the human health impacts of pesticides and their endocrine disruptor (ED) effects is a public health concern. The aim of this study is to identify phytopharmaceutical active substances (PAS) that are an ED or are toxic on endocrine glands (TEG), and to propose an ED/TEG effect indicator. Five international official databases were analyzed to identify the occurrence of health outcomes for 458 PAS. Read More

The sodium leak channel NALCN regulates cell excitability of pituitary endocrine cells.

FASEB J 2021 May;35(5):e21400

IGF, Université de Montpellier, CNRS, INSERM, Montpellier, France.

Anterior pituitary endocrine cells that release hormones such as growth hormone and prolactin are excitable and fire action potentials. In these cells, several studies previously showed that extracellular sodium (Na ) removal resulted in a negative shift of the resting membrane potential (RMP) and a subsequent inhibition of the spontaneous firing of action potentials, suggesting the contribution of a Na background conductance. Here, we show that the Na leak channel NALCN conducts a Ca - Gd -sensitive and TTX-resistant Na background conductance in the GH cell line, a cell model of pituitary endocrine cells. Read More

Background: The relevance of laparoscopic resection of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) remains debated. The aim of this study was to compare laparoscopic (LLR) and open (OLR) liver resection for ICC, with specific focus on textbook outcome and lymph node dissection (LND).

Methods: Patients undergoing LLR or OLR for ICC were included from two French, nationwide hepatopancreatobiliary surveys undertaken between 2000 and 2017. Read More
