Objectives: Gene fusions are becoming more evident in cancer scenario for either being the driver alterations, or for the great therapeutic target potential in many cases. Our aim was to characterize the BRD4-NOTCH3 fusion correlating with clinical features, and to determine the frequency of this fusion in the oncological population.Material And Methods: One patient diagnosed with lung adenocarcinoma at Hospital Sírio-Libanês (Brazil) was included. There is a continuous need in drug development approach for synthetic anticancer analogues with new therapeutic targets to diminish chemotherapeutic resistance of cancer cells. This study presents new group of synthetic thienopyrimidine analogues (1-9) aims as mGluR-1 inhibitors with anticancer activity. In-vitro antiproliferative assessment was carried out using viability assay against cancer cell lines (MCF-7, A-549 and PC-3) compared to WI-38 normal cell line. Read More

The incidence of human fungal infections is increasing due to the expansion of the immunocompromised patient population. The continuous use of different antifungal agents has eventually resulted in the establishment of resistant fungal species. The fungal pathogens unfold multiple resistance strategies to successfully tackle the effect of different antifungal agents. Read More

Tendon injuries are the leading cause of chronic debilitation to patients. Tendon stem/progenitor cells (TSPCs) are potential seed cells for tendon tissue engineering and regeneration, but TSPCs are prone to lose their distinct phenotype in vitro and specific differentiation into the tenocyte lineage is challenging. Utilizing small molecules in an ex vivo culture system may be a promising solution and can significantly improve the therapeutic applications of these cells. Read More
