This paper presents findings from an experimental evaluation of the Teen Options to Prevent Pregnancy (TOPP) program, an 18-month intervention that consists of a unique combination of personalized contraceptive counseling, facilitated access to contraceptive services, and referrals to social services. We find that TOPP led to large and statistically significant increases in the use of long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs), accompanied by substantial reductions in repeat and unintended pregnancy among adolescent mothers. We provide an exploratory analysis of the channels through which TOPP achieved its impacts on contraceptive behavior and pregnancy outcomes. Read More

Trilaciclib (Cosela™) is a small-molecule, short-acting, inhibitor of cyclin-dependent kinases (CDK) 4 and 6 developed by G1 Therapeutics for its myeloprotection and potential antitumor efficacy and safety benefits in combination with cancer chemotherapy. CDKs govern cell cycle progression, and trilaciclib induces a transient, reversible G1 cell cycle arrest of proliferating haematopoietic stem and progenitor cells in bone marrow, thus protecting them from damage during chemotherapy. In February 2021, trilaciclib received its first approval in the USA to decrease the incidence of chemotherapy-induced myelosuppression in adult patients when administered prior to a platinum/etoposide-containing regimen or topotecan-containing regimen for extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC). Background: Rapid population growth, untended pregnancy, and related consequences remain the concern of Sub-Saharan African countries, including Ethiopia. Despite this, long-acting reversible contraceptives methods are still underutilised and no studies have sought the factors in this study setting. Therefore, this study conducted to assess the prevalence and determining factors of long-acting reversible contraceptives utilisation following an abortion in Northern Ethiopia. Read More

Background: Long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) initiated immediately postpartum can reduce unintended or mistimed pregnancies, and contribute to proper pregnancy spacing. Data on use and continuation of postpartum LARC in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC) is limited. Methods: We searched PubMed, OVID, Embase, Google Scholar, Cochrane, POPLINE, Global Health (CABI), and LILACS databases for relevant terms. Unconventional ferroelectricity exhibited by hafnia-based thin films, robust at nanoscale sizes, presents tremendous opportunities in nanoelectronics. However, the exact nature of polarization switching remains controversial. We investigated LaSrMnO/HfZrO capacitor interfaced with various top electrodes while in situ electrical biasing using atomic resolution microscopy with direct oxygen imaging, as well as synchrotron nanobeam diffraction.
