Four new corticioid species in Trechisporales (Basidiomycota) from East Asia and notes on phylogeny of the order.

Authors:
Shi-Liang Liu Hai-Xia Ma Shuang-Hui He Yu-Cheng Dai

MycoKeys 2019 8;48:97-113. Epub 2019 Mar 8.

Institute of Microbiology, Beijing Forestry University, Beijing 100083, China Beijing Forestry University Beijing China.

Four new species in Trechisporales from East Asia, , , and , are described and illustrated, based on morphological and molecular evidence. The phylogeny of Trechisporales was inferred from a combined dataset of ITS-nrLSU sequences. In the phylogenetic tree, formed a family-level clade of its own, sister to the Hydnodontaceae clade formed by all other genera. , is for the first time, confirmed as a member of Hydnodontaceae. A key to all the accepted genera in Trechisporales is given.

[Genetic markers on the distribution of ancient marine hunters in Priokhotye].

Authors:

Vavilovskii Zhurnal Genet Selektsii 2020 Aug;24(5):539-544

Institute of Biological Problems of the North of the Far-East Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Magadan, Russia.

This is a review of studies on the genetic polymorphism of modern and ancient populations of the north of Asia and America, with the aim of reconstructing the history of migrations of ancient marine hunters in the Okhotsk Sea region. The data on mitochondrial DNA polymorphism and the "Arctic" mutation distribution - the rs80356779-A variant of the CPT1A gene - were analyzed. It is known that the "Arctic" variant of the CPT1A gene is widely distributed in modern populations of the Eskimos, Chukchis, Koryaks, and other peoples of the Okhotsk Sea region, whose economic structure is associated with marine hunting. Mitochondrial DNA B Resour 2021 Feb 3;6(2):320-322. Epub 2021 Feb 3.

Department of Biology Education, Chonnam National University, Gwangju, Republic of Korea.

We are reporting the complete plastid genome (plastome) of , an evergreen broad-leaved oak endemic to East Asia. This species is important for maintaining the warm-temperate evergreen forest biome in East Asia. The plastome is 160,522 base pairs (bp) long, with two inverted repeat (IR) regions (25,839 bp each) that separate a large single copy (LSC) region (90,199 bp) and a small single copy (SSC) region (18,645 bp). Rising Catastrophic Expenditure on Households Due to Tuberculosis: Is India Moving Away From the END-TB Goal?

Authors:
Banuru Muralidhara Prasad Jaya Prasad Tripathy V R Muraleedharan Jamhoih Tonsing

Front Public Health 2021 15;9:614466. Epub 2021 Feb 15.

International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease, The Union South East Asia Office, New Delhi, India.

One of the targets of the END-TB strategy is to ensure zero catastrophic expenditure on households due to TB. The information about household catastrophic expenditure is limited in India and, therefore difficult to monitor. The objective is to estimate household and catastrophic expenditure for Tuberculosis using national sample survey data. Read More

Comparison of the RADM2 and RACM chemical mechanisms in O simulations: effect of the photolysis rate constant.

Authors:
Chien-Hung Chen Tu-Fu Chen Shang-Ping Huang Ken-Hui Chang

Sci Rep 2021 Mar 3;11(1):5024. Epub 2021 Mar 3.

Department of Safety, Health and Environmental Engineering, National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, Yunlin, Taiwan.

Since the photolysis rate plays an important role in any photoreaction leading to compound sink and radical formation/destruction and eventually O formation, its impact on the simulated O concentration was evaluated in the present study. Both RADM2 and RACM were adopted with and without updated photolysis rate constants. The newly developed photolysis rates were determined based on two major absorption cross-section and quantum yield data sources. Read More

Sci Rep 2021 Mar 3;11(1):5038. Epub 2021 Mar 3.

Research Platform for Pediatric Oncology and Hematology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Geneva, Avenue de la Roseraie 64, 1205, Geneva, Switzerland.

GSTA1 encodes a member of a family of enzymes that function to add glutathione to target electrophilic compounds, including carcinogens, therapeutic drugs, environmental toxins, and products of oxidative stress. GSTA1 has several functional SNPs within its promoter region that are responsible for a change in its expression by altering promoter function. This study aims to investigate distributions of GSTA1 promoter haplotypes across different human populations and to assess their impact on the expression of GSTA1. Read More
