Introduction: Maintaining academic integrity is paramount for educators, and even more so for health science educators, where the health of patients is potentially at stake. However, as more content and assessments are pushed into an online forum, more hurdles are being placed in the path of keeping everyone honest without requiring significant financial resources for online proctoring of every assessment. The 13th Global CRO Council (GCC) closed forum for bioanalysis was held in New Orleans, LA, USA on 5 April 2019. This GCC meeting was organized to discuss the contents of the 2019 ICH M10 Bioanalytical Method Validation Draft Guideline published in February 2019 and consolidate the feedback of the GCC members. While ICH M10 will cover requirements for reference standards, one of the biggest challenges facing the CRO community is the lack of consistency and completeness of Certificates of Analysis for reference standards used in regulated bioanalysis. While some have claimed that a median sternotomy is an 'unkind cut,' when this incision is performed, closed, and managed optimally, it can be one of the 'most kind cuts' used for major operations. The median sternotomy is the most commonly used incision for coronary artery bypass surgery, which is the most common operation performed in the United States at the current time. Aim: Low anterior resection syndrome (LARS) refers to a constellation of bowel symptoms that affect the majority of patients following restorative proctectomy. LARS is associated with poorer quality of life (QoL), and can lead to distress, anxiety and isolation. Background: The aim of this study was to present an extrapleural approach for the closure of patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), with the repair of aortic coarctation (CoA) in the same session, in critically ill newborns and infants as an alternative to the transpleural surgical technique.

Methods: Between December 2007 and November 2010, 44 critically ill patients with PDA and coarctation of the aorta were operated on during the same session with the extrapleural approach. The diagnoses of the patients were made by transthoracic echocardiography (TTE). Read More
