Background: The 21st Century Cures Act has accelerated adoption of OpenNotes, providing new opportunities for patient and family engagement in their care. However, these regulations present new challenges, particularly for pediatric health systems aiming to improve information sharing while minimizing risks associated with adolescent confidentiality and safety. Objective: Describe lessons learned preparing for OpenNotes across a pediatric health system during a 4-month trial period (referred to as "Learning Mode") in which clinical notes were not shared by default but decision support was present describing the upcoming change and physicians could request feedback on complex cases from a multidisciplinary team. Cytoskeletal proteins are classified as a group that is defined functionally, whose members are capable of polymerizing into higher order structures, either dynamically or statically, to perform structural roles during a variety of cellular processes. In eukaryotes, the most well-studied cytoskeletal proteins are actin, tubulin, and intermediate filaments, and are essential for cell shape and movement, chromosome segregation, and intracellular cargo transport. Prokaryotes often harbor homologs of these proteins, but in bacterial cells, these homologs are usually not employed in roles that can be strictly defined as "cytoskeletal". Read More

The studies published on the South Korean response to COVID-19 point to different reasons for the country's success. No reviews were identified on South Korea from January 2020 to April 2021 or that analyzed the pandemic's recrudescence. Aimed at better systematization of South Korea's success in controlling the epidemic, we conducted an integrative review to analyze that country´s experience with the COVID-19 pandemic, seeking to identify the relationship between the measures adopted, the health system's characteristics, and evolution of the selected indicators. Having devoted over 35 years of my professional life to various projects on choroideremia (CHM), I began to reflect on the many lessons that I learned along the way. One of the most important is: we should pay careful attention to possible, unintended psychological harm in clinical research. This lesson was learned early and then reinforced when I engaged CHM patients in an investigator-sponsored Phase IB clinical trial of ocular gene therapy for choroideremia. Read More
