The development of ultrafast detectors for electron microscopy (EM) opens a new door to exploring dynamics of nanomaterials; however, it raises grand challenges for big data processing and storage. Here, we combine deep learning and temporal compressive sensing (TCS) to propose a novel EM big data compression strategy. Changes in waste management policy affect the settlement characteristics of waste landfills in which the waste disposal is operated for decades. In this study, the waste settlements were calculated by using the data measured in two multi-staged landfills for 27 years. Volume collapse under high pressure is an intriguing phenomenon involving subtle interplay between lattice, spin, and charge. The two most important causes of volume collapse are lattice collapse (low-density to high-density) and magnetic collapse (high-spin to low-spin).
