Abstract: We report a case of monkeypox and herpes simplex type 2 coinfection in HIV positive MSM patient (men who have sex with men). This case report describes a diagnostic approach for papular rash in the anal area of an MSM patient with a history of sexually transmitted disease (STD). This is also the first documented case of monkeypox in the Czech Republic, which was confirmed after a retrospective review of swab samples from a previously hospitalized HIV-positive patient. Several new viral infections have emerged in the human population and establishing as global pandemics. With advancements in translation research, the scientific community has developed potential therapeutics to eradicate or control certain viral infections, such as smallpox and polio, responsible for billions of disabilities and deaths in the past.
