Introduction

I am interested on the axis nutrition - gut microbiota - cardiometabolic disease. My research activities have been centered on the characterization of new biomarkers for early detection of diabetic kidney disease, diabetes, cardiovascular events, and mortality. I work on large and long term cohorts to assess metabolomic and proteomic biomarkers. I have conducted formal research at the University of Glasgow and University of Helsinki. Since 2017 I am working as PhD candidate at the Univeristy Medical Center Groningen, the Netherlands.
I also have a close collaboration with the department of Biophotonics of The National Institute of Astrophysics, Optics and Electronics, Mexico; working on the development of non-invasive instruments for the diagnosis of diabetes and microvascular complications.
