Nickel/magnesium-lanthanum mixed oxide catalyst in the Kumada-coupling.

A new, heterogeneous, magnesium-lanthanum mixed oxide solid base-supported nickel(ii) catalyst was developed. The catalyst was used successfully in the Kumada coupling of aryl halides, especially aryl bromides. The optimal reaction conditions of the coupling were determined.

Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction catalyzed by Pd/MgLa mixed oxide.

A new, reusable Pd/MgLa mixed oxide catalyst has been applied successfully in the Suzuki-Miyaura carbon-carbon cross-coupling reaction of aryl halides as well as benzylic bromide with boronic acids in ethanol. The catalyst is air stable, can be stored and handled under an ambient atmosphere and after the reaction it can be recovered by simple filtration and reused without significant loss of activity.

Optical resolution by crystallization from melt using enantiomer derivatives as resolving agents: nonlinear behavior of resolving agent mixtures.

Substituted racemic 1-phenylethylamine derivatives were reacted in molten phase with chiral N-substituted 1-phenylethylamine dicarboxylic acid derivatives (4-9), and their mixtures (e.g., 4+6, 7+8, etc.) in different ratios, and the crystalline quasi-racemic diastereomers so formed were separated. Nonlinear behavior of the mixtures of resolving agents having related structure and considerable positive and negative chiral-chiral interactions were observed.

Modified Mg : Al hydrotalcite in the synthesis of oxazolidin-2-ones.

The modified Mg : Al (3 : 1) hydrotalcite has been found to be an efficient catalyst in the conversion of carbamates into oxazolidin-2-ones under mild reaction conditions. A wide variety of oxazolidin-2-ones were obtained with excellent chemical yield.
