Introduction

Dr. Ma is a self-motivated and engaged Medical Scientist. He received his M.D. in Clinical Medicine from Zhejiang University, China. He completed 3-year Fellow Training in Surgical Oncology after practicing in General Surgery for 5 years as a resident surgeon. Then, he obtained his Ph.D. in Oncology and focused his thesis on Cancer Immunotherapy at Zhejiang University after practicing in the Department of Oncology for 2 years as an attending. After that, he spent 5 years for his postdoctoral training at the University of Nebraska Medical Center for cancer treatment with Nanomedicine, University of Wisconsin-Madison for Molecular Immunology studied on activated eosinophils, University of California San Diego for Cancer Immunotherapy on tumor antigen-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CD8+ T cell culture and expansion) and clinical trials. He was promoted to Assistant Project Scientist at UC San Diego in 2007, Associate Project Scientist in 2013. He was then recruited and served as the dean and distinguished professor at Huzhou University School of Medicine in 2013. Two years later, he served as a senior scientist at Cynvenio Biosystem and focused on circulating tumor cell (CTC) and next-generation sequencing (NGS) in 2015. Eight months later, he was recruited back to UC San Diego to serve as a team leader and take the lead on the projects of leukemia stem cell (LSC) treatment, collaborated with Pfizer, Johnson and Johnson, Geron, and Bristol Myers Squibb (Celgene), etc. Dr. Ma also serves as the academic reviewers for 34 peer reviewed journals including Cancer Immunology Research, International Journal of Cancer, Molecular Oncology, Oncotarget, Nanomedicine, etc. and 6 editorial board members since 2006. He was awarded “Outstanding Reviewer” recognition for the journal of “Cellular Immunology” in 2017. He has 33 papers published with the total impact factor of over 235 and citation over 2196. His research interests focus on Cancer Immunotherapy, Circulating Tumor Cells and Leukemia Stem Cells.
