Introduction

Shariful Islam is a physician scientist trained in Cardiology with a PhD and Postdoc in digital health. Shariful is currently a Senior Research Fellow at Deakin University, Honorary Senior Fellow at the George Institute for Global Health and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Sydney Medical School, University of Sydney. Shariful's research focuses on design and conduct of large-scale epidemiological studies, meta-analyses, and clinical trials testing comparative effectiveness strategies for diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. In addition, his research also focuses on the use of mHealth, wearable devices, biosensors and innovative information technologies for prevention and management of chronic diseases.
