Introduction

Dr. Mao-Sheng Ran is an associate professor at Department of Social Work and Social Administration, The University of Hong Kong. His research interests include social development and mental health, community mental health, epidemiology, psychosocial intervention, stigma, long-term outcome of mental disorders, mental health social work, suicide and disaster event, poverty and mental illness. He is principal investigator of numerous research projects (e.g., supported by WHO, NIH, AFSP, GRF, PPR, etc.). Being founder and principal investigator, he is leading the Chengdu Mental Health Project (CMHP), a unique longitudinal (1994-present, www.socialwork.hku.hk/project/cmhp/index.html) mental health project in the world and a mental health research platform in China. He has published over 140 academic papers and 5 books or chapters.
