Introduction

I gained training and experience as a Biostatistician while working as a statistical consultant at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. I have specifically been researching the field of geospatial analysis to investigate health disparities over eight years. My research achievement has been recognized by publishing several scientific articles in famous international journals. Through my research, I realized that public health and medical researchers are usually unaware of the importance of geographic disparities in human health, and my responsibility is revealing the differences of a health outcome among given areas to provide a surveillance for facilitating the fulfill of interventions and preventions, especially in needed areas. My significant contributions can attribute to 1) quantifying geographic disparities of breast cancer, colorectal cancer, children’s respiratory diseases, diabetes, and asthma; 2) building an early surveillance system on dengue fever incidence, where the system can detect a dengue fever outbreak 15 weeks earlier, and identify high risk areas in the main high-prevalence cities. As a result of my experience, I am aware of the importance of geospatial health in public health and biomedical research because infectious diseases spread fast, and the efficiency of intervention and prevention is actually a competition with time. I also provide statistical consulting services to other research fields, such as Nursing, physical therapy, and global health.
