Introduction

Prof. Hezhong TIAN is now a full professor of the School of Environment at Beijing Normal University of China, and he is the Director of Center for Atmospheric Environmental Studies (CAES) of Beijing Normal University. He got his Ph.D. at the School of Environment of Tsinghua University in July of 2003, and thereafter he continued to conduct Post-Doctorate research for two years at Tsinghua University. Since November of 2005, he has enjoyed himself as an associated professor and then promoted to a full professor position in the School of Environment at Beijing Normal University. His research interests mainly focus on energy use and the associated atmospheric environmental problems, including the development of emission inventory (EI) for various hazardous air pollutants (SO2, NOx, PM, heavy metals like Hg, As, Pb, Cd, Cr, Sb, Ni, etc.), regional acid deposition, ground-level complex PM2.5 and haze pollution, air quality modelling, etc. He has engaged in some research projects and consultation programs on these topics during the past two decades. Prof. Tian is familiar with the current situation of energy use and air pollution control (PM, SO2, NOx, Hg, As, Pb, etc.) in China, as well as the related emission standards, regulations and policies. By April of 2017, he has published over 100 journal papers, including about 30 papers published on the international SCI TOP journals like ES&T, ACP, Atmospheric Environment, Journal of Hazardous Materials, Environmental Pollution, Energy & Fuels, Science of the Total Environment, etc.
