Introduction

Professor Enver Roshi is Deam of Faculty of Public Health , University of Medicine, Tirana, Albania and a
Lecturer of Public Health and Epidemiology at the Department of Public Health,in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Tirana. Originally qualifying as a General Practitioner, Prof. Roshi has extended his experience to become a leading public health professional for Albania, appearing frequently on national television to explain and debate topical public health issues. Beyond the borders of Albania, Professor Roshi has established international links, including: seven years experience as visiting professor of the field of epidemiology in the Jian Ping Hsu Colleague School of Public Health in the Georgia Southern University in Georgia, USA; and ten years as Professor for the subjects of Research Methods, Epidemiology, Environmental Health, Biostatistics and other public health topics in the State University of Tetova, Macedonia . Professor Roshi has trained in a number of countries in the course of his career, gaining knowledge and experience of different health systems, including in the US, Israel and Italy etc. Professor Roshi continues to work and influence on the International stage through his membership of the Governing Council Association of Schools of Public Health in the European Region (ASPHER) and of the International Association of National Public Health Institutes.
Prof Roshi has been Honorary Membership from the Faculty of Public of Royal Health Colleges of Physicians of United Kingdom.

Professor Roshi has been instrumental in the establishment and development of public health training in Albania. Prior to taking up his current responsibilities he was co-director and developer of the Post-graduate Master in Public Health Program in the Department of Medicine for all the majors and core courses required (Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Scientific Research Methodology). Professor Roshi was the founder and developer of the teaching program for the Bachelor of Public Health, started in 2007 at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Tirana and founder and developer of the 2-year program of Post-graduate specialization in Public Health, at Faculty of Medicine, University of Tirana.

Professor Roshi has published in peer reviewed journals and has authored numerous books and book chapters. The breadth of Professor Roshi’s professional interests spans the discipline of public health. He has published in peer reviewed journals on such matters as: building public health systems and training programmes; myocardium infarction and religion; cardio-vascular disease risk factors; spousal physical violence in Albania; knowledge of sexually transmitted infections and attitudes to condom use and factors associated with fatal traffic accidents .
Professor Roshi’s books and book chapters relate to: public health strategies and regional development; health determinants; and the theory and practice of health sciences, public health, health promotion and research methods.
